General Information

Security
You are required to abide by any reasonable request or command from Downtown Shakedown security. Remember that our security staff’s priority is your safety. If you need help or see anyone needing help, please notify our security staff straight away.

Safety Announcements
Between acts on the stage we will be making announcements to keep you informed during the day so please take note and respect our MC's.

Restricted Items
Check the back of your ticket for restricted items such as video cameras, alcohol & umbrella's. As we have no provision to check them in so you will need to get rid of them or take it back home or to your car. Still cameras are allowed for personal use only.

Emergency Evacuation
In the unlikely event of an emergency where an area, building or the festival site may require to be evacuated or cleared, it is imperative to remain calm and follow all instructions from Downtown Shakedown staff and emergency services. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and website for updates.

First Aid
Several St John stations are located around the site and are available to treat people who need urgent medical assistance. Please keep in mind that St John staff and volunteers have a very long and demanding day so please only seek help under genuine circumstances. We owe them a great deal of gratitude for all their skills and support.

Keep It Real & Keep It Legal
Anyone caught holding or dealing illegal substances will be treated the same way as anywhere else. Do not turn up intoxicated or out of it, as you may be refused entry.

Care For Others
Please be considerate of others as well as your own safety, especially in front of stages. If someone falls or is distressed, please help them or let the security team know so we can help. We're all here to have the best time possible.

Q. Where can I buy tickets?
A.
The official ticket seller for this event is Eventbrite. Tickets can also be purchased at downtownshakedown.co.nz. Please be aware of false ticket sellers on social media.

Q. My ticket wasn’t emailed to me/ who can I contact to get my ticket reissued? 
A. 
If you can’t find your ticket after you have purchased it, please refresh your browser and check your junk/spam inbox first. If you still have issues, please contact the Eventbrite support team via the help centre: www.eventbrite.co.nz/support/contact-us

Q. Is there a name on ticket Policy?
A.
Downtown Shakedown has a name on ticket policy, meaning that the name on your ticket must match your ID. Security will be checking this as you enter the event. It is important that any ticket transfers are arranged ahead of time, or you run the risk of that ticket being invalid for your use on the day of the event. Any tickets purchased through official outlets will require you to confirm the name of each attendee before purchasing tickets.

Q. What If I want to give my ticket to a close friend or family member instead of selling it?

You can change the name on your ticket through Tixel. Click Here for details.

Q. Are there payment plans or Afterpay options available? 
A.
There are no payment plan options available for this event. The only safe places to buy tickets are from our official main ticketing page on Eventbrite and through our official resale page on Tixel. 

Q. Can I have my tickets on my phone?  
A.
Yes you can have the tickets on your phone. Please make sure your screen brightness is turned up for scanning. Save the trees people!

Q. How do I resell my Tickets if I can't attend?
A.
Tixel provides a safe platform to resell and buy tickets. On Tixel, every ticket purchased is automatically reissued in the buyer's name. This is the authorised resale platform and the only way to comply with the name on ticket policy. Tickets purchased over Facebook, Gumtree, TradeMe, or otherwise will not gain entry to the event

The best way to list your ticket is by following the below steps:

1.     Click on Sell my Ticket

2.     Click on the Eventbrite logo

3.     Log into your Eventbrite page where you purchased the original ticket

4.     Select the ticket you want to sell and follow the prompts.

*Please note that ticket re-sale does not open until after September 20th.

Q. Where do I get my Wristband?
A.
You can swap your tickets for a wristband at the main entrance from 2:00pm on December 5th. The Ticketing tent at the main gate will close at 9:00pm.

Q. When Is the line-up released? 
A.

Q. What happens if the event is postponed? 
A.
Important: If the event needs to be postponed to the following day due to weather, it will be announced on our Facebook page and website by 9:00am on the morning of the event (Saturday 5th December 2020).

Q. What are suitable forms of I.D? 
A. 
Photo Identification is the only accepted form of ID for entry. Here are the accepted forms of photo Identification: 

  • Current NZ Drivers Licence

  • Current Passport (expired not accepted)

  • 18+ Card

  • Kiwi Access Card 

Q. When do gates open for the event? 
A
. Gates open to the event at 2:00pm  

Q. What can I bring into the event?
A.
You can bring into the event an unopened bottle of water – or an empty water bottle (no glass) and enough food to get you through the day. Please be aware that if you bring a backpack or large bag that it will be searched on entry. Check the back of your ticket for restricted items such as video cameras (small cameras are fine). People found with anything that could be used as a weapon may be refused entry to the event. No illegal substances or concealed alcohol. 

Q. What’s the best way to pay for things?
A.
This event is a NO CASH event. We will be accepting contactless payments via PayWave. This means you can pay with a physical card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay if they wish. Please note we will not take Amex, Diners or Union Pay cards.

Q. Is the site wheelchair friendly? 
A.
There is wheelchair access to the event. Part of our focus is to make the site as accessible as possible. 

Q. Can I smoke?
A
. Technically, Waitangi Park and the waterfront is smoke free. Please dispose of your butts thoughtfully.


Q. Where is Lost Property? 
A.
Lost Property can be handed into and picked up from the Information Tent.

Q. Where are evacuation Instructions? 
A
. Safety, St John, evacuations and other information will be linked on this question four weeks out from the event.


Zero Tolerance Policy

Intoxicated People - You will be REFUSED ENTRY if you are intoxicated from alcohol or drugs (last the distance!)  

Fake Wristbands - Anyone found with a fake or copied wristband will be handed over to the police. Downtown Shakedown will treat all offences as fraud and may prosecute accordingly.

Fence Jumping- Anyone caught trying to bypass our security fencing and access the event without a legitimate wristband will be intercepted and handed over to the police. These offences may be treated as trespassing or a serious security threat and you may be prosecuted accordingly


 

Festival Location

Downtown Shakedown is set in Waitangi Park on the Wellington Waterfront. As the festival is close to the Wellington CBD, it is just a short 5- 10-minute walk from a lot of Wellington accommodation and the best things on offer in the capital.
